Crazy Days

So, some crazy stuff has been going on. Been looking for a job lately, I now have one. So over the past week or so I've been busy doing medicals, physicals, drug test, packing, etc. I have been making sure to get in at least 40 minutes, 4 times a week. Mostly just running, not much else, aside from the physical which involved half an hour of strength based exercises.

Now I'm doing training with this new job, which will have me at a hotel for about 7 weeks. This is fantastic for my training, as the hotel has a pool and a fitness centre. I plan to start working out more, since it's right there. I haven't seen the fitness centre yet, but hopefully it has some nice weights, so I can do a bit more weight training. I've been unemployed, so I haven't been able to afford a gym pass.

Missed an Update

Oopsie-doodles, I thought I updated on Sunday, must have missed it.

Here is the update for Sunday April 14th,

Managed to do 100 push ups per day for a full 7 days! Got in some good runs and walks around town. Totally forgot to time any of them, because I was just enjoying the sun. Made my 4 day quota of exercise for the week, but it was all done it various different ways. One day I was shoveling snow, the next I was out for a run cause it was so nice.

The 'perks' of living in Canada, I guess :p

Halrawk - Week Update

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about this blog. Just figured I'd update this week, instead of each day.

Did 2 days of 40 minute runs around town (lots of up and down hills). And 3 days of 40+ minutes of clubbells and body weight training.

What are clubbells you may ask.

I followed this routine one day, but this isn't a video of me. One day I think I will put up a video of me doing these things. Those diagonal sit ups to stand ups are freaking insane! I actually do them off a bosu ball, they are a little easier that way (I should say a little more possible).

I really plan on working on my shoulders a lot, I personally feel they are my weakest area, so I'll work em like crazy.

I've decided tomorrow I'm going to try a challenge. I'm going to attempt 100 push ups a day (which shouldn't be too hard), hopefully within a few weeks I can do 100 push ups in 1 set.

Push ups combined with clubbells should help me get a nice and strong upper body.

Chopping more wood.

Spent another 2.5 hours chopping wood, and did 50 reps each of shoulder press, bicep curls, and tricep extensions, 10 lbs each hand.

I sure enjoy "progressive training", like exercise, but more of a activity. Wood chopping wood be the example.

Little wood pun there.

Halrawk - Got wood?

So another day down. Just wondering if there is any interest from VA in this blog?

Either way, today I chopped wood for 3 hours as exercise, then went for a good 30 minute run. Over all pretty fantastic day :)

That's 2 of 4 this week.

Today is day 1 of the rest of my life!

Halrawk - Running Workout

Today I went out for a short run, 24 minutes long. I very much under-estimated how hard it would be to run in such a hill filled area. I currently live in the rocky mountains, but just moved from a rather flat part of Canada.

Endomondo Running Workout: was out running 4.06 km in 24m:18s using Endomondo. There is a map attached, but for privacy reasons only friends can see it.

Anyway, also went for a 1.5 hr walk, didn't bother gpsing it, cause it was just kind of a spur of the moment "Want to go for a walk?".

1 day of 4 done this week :)

Also, Endomondo is the app I use for running, anyone else got some good ones to recommend?

Read Me First!

Hey, hey VA!

It's your buddy Halrawk, making a fitness blog and such. For this first post I'll give you an idea of what you can do here.

The plan is to make this a group blog, where anyone who is an "author" can post and edit their own posts. As well as comment on others.

The idea is to be held accountable for your fitness, no matter to goal. We can encourage each other, give each other ideas, and discuss various apps or websites, post youtube links to what you'd like to do, or tutorials on how to do it, or any other number of things.

If you'd like to be invited to be able to post, send me a private message with the email you'd like to use. You can send it to me (Halrawk) on Vigilant Addictions website, or on here through Google+ +Cory Dewald if you'd like.

The success of this post will be COMPLETELY dependent on the people using it, so use it, love it, be it's friend. And I promise you I'll do the same I'll use you, love you... I'll post, comment and help if I can :p

Halrawk's Goal and Plan

Alrighty, so here is my plan, I plan on losing some weight. I'm carrying a bit of extra weight since I moved, because I'm no longer working in the fitness industry (for now).

My long term goal is to lose 20 lbs in 6 months. Which breaks downs to a short term goal of about 0.8 lbs per week.

My plan is simple, I will run/walk/hike/bike or some other form of endurance sport for a minimum of 30 minutes, 3 times per week.
The full plan is 4 days a week, with 1 hour of various exercise on each of those days. The exercise type and intensity will change, because I don't want to limit myself right now. Some days will be body weight, some days will be weight training at the gym, others will be just a cardio (cardio is longer term exercise, usally associated with running, swimming, biking, hiking, skiing, etc.)

How will the blog help?
It will help keep me on track, I will post each day I workout, and a short summary of what I did. Nothing intense, simple as saying "Ran 1 hour today" or as complex as posting my workout results from an App. Whatever works.

I'd love to see the rest of you doing the same, I think this could be a great way to have a bit of accountability for each workout. We'll never know if you're lying or not, but you will :p
